Wisconsin Leads U.S. Wins at 2014 World Cheese Awards

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin won more awards for its cheese than any other U.S. state at the prestigious World Cheese Awards, taking home 28 awards – about 33 percent – of the total awards given to the United States, including two super gold medals and a 'Major Winner' award in the 'Best Overseas Additive Cheese' category.

Award-winning Wisconsin cheeses came from six companies including Sartori (14 awards), Emmi Roth USA (6 awards), Arthur Schuman (3 awards), The Artisan Cheese Exchange (2 awards), Burnett Dairy Cooperative (2 awards) and Carr Valley Cheese Co. (1 award). Super gold medals went to Emmi Roth USA's Grand Cru Surchoix and Sartori Reserve Kentucky Bourbon BellaVitano, which also received a 'Major Winner' award in the 'Best Overseas Additive Cheese' category.

The World Cheese Awards, now in its 26th year, received close to 2,600 entries from 33 countries including, but not limited to, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Mexico, Argentina, Spain, Brazil and the United States. Cheeses were judged by 250 experts from around the world. Ten U.S. states received awards.
