History:A.M.P.I. plants can trace their origins as far back as 1891, when professor Theophilus L. Haecker of the University of Minnesota's Dairy School first introduced the concept of cooperative creameries to farmers. A.M.P.I. is heavily involved in manufactured dairy products, cheese, butter, aseptic cheese sauce and puddings and nonfat dry milk. Associated Milk Producers, Inc., is one of the largest cheese manufacturers in the United States, and we supply many of the nation's cheese packers with bulk cheese in either block or barrel form. Our own packaging and processing plant is in Portage, Wisconsin. A.M.P.I.'s diversity in production and distribution is an asset to our many customers; we supply the foodservice industry, the retail customer trade and food processors.
