Wisconsin Dairy Council

The Wisconsin Dairy Council, the nutrition education arm of WMMB, has six regional program managers throughout Wisconsin who work with school foodservice staff and teachers to promote the nutritional benefits of dairy products for students. WDC staff also works with Wisconsin's Alice in Dairyland and state media outlets to educate Wisconsin residents about the role of dairy products in a healthy diet.

School Foodservice

Eating school meals is a proven way to boost students' immediate health and nutrition needs while establishing positive eating habits for life. Health and nutrition claims alone won't lead students to the cafeteria. As with adults, taste continues to be the main consideration. Many student favorites such as pizza, tacos and macaroni and cheese already feature cheese. Serving tasty, cheesy favorites with fresh, cold milk is a can't-miss combination that will keep students coming back for more. As participation increases, so will your bottom line.

Teachers

Talking about dairy products and good nutrition in the classroom teaches the students an important life skill. What the students eat (and don't eat) can affect their health now and in the future. Eating a healthy diet also helps the students learn and focus their attention at school. Teaching about nutrition and the importance of calcium in the diet does not have to be an additional topic to pack in to the crowded school day. Use the classroom lessons from Wisconsin Dairy Council to incorporate health and nutrition into your classroom curriculum. The lessons are easy for you and fun for your students – building up everyone's appetite for a healthy school breakfast or lunch.

Sports Nutrition

Good nutrition is just as important to athletic performance as conditioning and training. An athlete can optimize his or her performance during competition by eating a balanced diet which includes a variety of healthy foods and beverages. These resources will help coaches and athletes with important nutrition information to supplement their training regimen.
